Tech Support Scam

A tech Support Scam is a type of attack by phone, message, e-mail or internet in which the attacker impersonates somebody from a support-team and asks the victim to install some patch or application to f.e. repair the users' device when there's typically nothing wrong with it. Often it takes over a browser-session slowing it down and showing a message that there's some kind of critical error. An attack of this kind can also involve displaying a telephone-number to call immediately after which the attacker on the other side of the line gives instructions that will lead to accessing the users' system to do harm.
Real tech support teams don't actively send messages and especially not with telephone-number or login-links to follow. When you think there's something wrong use the bookmarks in your browser-favourites or do a search on the internet for the correct adress.
